The CZ 1012 semi-automatic shotgun uses a non-gas inertial operating system instead of the typical gas model standard in gun racks today. Ordinary gas-powered systems work by redirecting gas directly from the barrel. 1012 uses a spring in a completely different way that is clamped on a bolt that saves energy during blowback operation. The CZ redhead over-under spring then uses the stored energy to direct the shell’s spent hull to break away, discharging itself after only a moment.
