Yeah, go test a bunch of different guns out by renting together. My sister liked the SIG P365 Rose, the 45 ACP 1911, and the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Compact.
You might also want to check out a featureless AR9 (9mm AR rifle). (Maglocked rifles are too finicky and unreliable for home defense.) I’m ultra accurate with my AR9 right out of the box but still learning to accurately shoot a pistol.
