In the early Cold War, 9x18mm Makarov the 7.62×25mm Tokarev was the automatic pistol for the Soviet Union and its satellites in Eastern Europe. During the war, the Red Army discovered some flaws in its 7.62mm TT-33 pistol, one of which was its tendency to drop its magazine during operation inadvertently.
