Glock 19 Gen3: A Complete Guide to the Classic Compact Pistol
The Glock 19 Gen3 remains one of the most iconic and widely trusted handguns in the firearms world. Known for its dependability, balanced size, and proven track record, the Gen3 platform continues to attract shooters, collectors, and concealed-carry enthusiasts. Whether you’re researching upgrades, comparing models, or exploring the Glock 19 Gen 3 for sale, this guide covers everything you need to know.
Overview of the Glock 19 Gen3
The Gen3 design introduced enhanced ergonomics, the accessory rail, and improved internal components—features that still hold strong today. The weight of Glock 19 Gen3 is roughly 23.65 oz unloaded, offering a comfortable balance between concealability and stability during firing. This makes it an excellent choice for everyday carry and range training.
Shooters often compare the Glock 19 Gen3 with compact alternatives like the Glock 43X for sale, but the G19 maintains an edge due to its higher capacity and versatile platform.
Glock 19 Gen3 Review: Reliability That Stands the Test of Time
A typical Glock 19 Gen3 review highlights its legendary durability, simple operation, and minimal recoil. The polymer frame and Tenifer-treated slide increase corrosion resistance, ensuring longevity even with heavy use. Many shooters appreciate the consistent trigger pull and the intuitive layout of the controls.
The Gen3 design is widely praised for supporting extensive customization options, which is why aftermarket upgrades remain extremely popular.
Slides, Frames, and Upgrade Options
For shooters wanting to personalize their setup, the Glock 19 Gen3 supports numerous slide and frame enhancements. Examples include:
Glock 19 Gen3 Slide Options
You can choose from OEM models or premium custom builds. A custom Glock 19 slide Gen 3 improves performance and aesthetics with options like optic cuts, serrations, and coatings. Many owners also switch to the Glock 19 Gen3 MOS slide, which accommodates red-dot optics for faster target acquisition.
Budget-friendly shooters often choose the PSA Dagger Glock 19 Gen 3 slide, which is compatible and offers impressive value.
Glock 19 Gen 3 Complete Upper
Those who prefer a full drop-in replacement can go with a Glock 19 Gen 3 complete upper, simplifying upgrades and ensuring perfect fitment.
Lower Frames and Accessories
Replacing the frame is common among competitive shooters. A Glock 19 Gen 3 lower offers a stable base for upgrades like enhanced triggers, stippling, and extended controls.
Some shooters experiment with advanced barrel systems like the Glock 19 Gen 3 Radian Ramjet, designed to reduce recoil and improve accuracy.
Training and Recreational Alternatives
If you’re looking for an affordable trainer or backyard plinking tool, the Umarex Glock 19 Gen3 is a popular replica option. The brand also offers the Umarex Glock 19 Gen3 .177 caliber BB gun air pistol, which mimics the real firearm’s feel while using inexpensive BB ammo.
Holsters and Carry Options
Finding the right holster enhances safety and comfort. Many shooters prefer an IWB or OWB Glock 19 Gen3 holster, ensuring secure retention while maintaining quick access. The Gen3’s size allows for comfortable carrying across multiple positions without printing excessively.
Why Many Shooters Still Prefer the Gen3
The Gen3 Glock 19 continues to dominate the market because it offers:
-
Proven reliability
-
Wide aftermarket support
-
Balanced size for duty, range, and concealed carry
-
Affordable pricing
-
Compatibility with numerous upgrades
Whether you’re browsing for a Glock 19 Gen 3 for sale, comparing slides, or exploring training replicas, the Gen3 remains one of the best-performing and most customizable compact pistols ever produced.

GOOD Based on 174 reviews Posted on Billy DunnAugust 19, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nice place for a quick shoot. Friendly staff.Posted on Patrick SalazarJuly 15, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was my first time at Discount. They had a magazine I haven’t been able to find at other local stores. They had a great selection all around. The staff was 10x friendlier and eager to assist me than any other shop. I haven’t tried the range yet but I will definitely be backPosted on Jonathan JonesMay 16, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The staff seems very friendly and knowledgeable. However, ammo selection is pretty weak and everything seems to be priced higher than everywhere else. Kind of a misleading company name.Posted on Leonard MayApril 29, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Love this place won’t go anywhere else. Come here every other week to buy ammo. Everyone is super friendly and welcomingPosted on Yasir HasanApril 11, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. One of my favorite gun stores in the valley. I’ve made some purchases from this store and also have a range pass. I found so many great stuff here.Posted on Jesus JimenezApril 9, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. In the past day, Discount Guns and Ammo has removed the information stating that one must have a 'driver's license' in order to purchase from their store.Posted on bob brownMarch 15, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Love the range here! Prices are very fair for range time and rentals. The guys behind the counter were helpful and friendly. This place is awesome, I would absolutely recommend.Posted on Jonathan SMarch 12, 2023.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The staff is amazing and friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities need a MASSIVE renovation and/or upgrade, to the point where, when I went to the indoor range today, I almost could not see the backstop because of all the smoke / residue / etc. floating in the air. The excuse was that they had a lot of people at the range today, but, really, that air should be circulating constantly and significantly, and I honestly didn't feel safe spending more than 30 minutes on the range, if even that. TL;DR: they need to check their exhaust fans or filters or both.
